We Deliver

Office Furniture Liquidators includes shipping of our products in every price. Items marked UPS are shipped in the box and do require minor assembly. Most of these items are usually chairs or small tables that can be handled by one person.

Other large items such as desk, files, conference tables we assemble as required and deliver on our trucks to your office if you are located in our normal delivery areas, otherwise we ship these truck line. We refer to this service as “White Glove” since when we leave your office or home the items you ordered are ready for you to use. This service may not seem as value added but when you consider what “free delivery” means on large items offered by other internet retailers the difference is clear.

First nearly all large items are shipped on a 53’ tractor trailer through a third party trucking company. The driver is only obligated to get the items to the back of the truck, unloading is up to you. This may not be a problem if you have a loading dock and a fork lift but otherwise it takes several people to unload say a 325 pound desk or a 780 pound fire proof file. Not only is there a possibility of damage to the merchandise but also perhaps to your employees as well. Once the items are unloaded it is up to you to inspect the boxes for damage and deal with the freight company noting anything visible on the bill before the driver leaves.

Of course you are just getting started since the furniture will need to be moved inside and unpackaged. That average 325lb desk we referred to earlier has about a yard of packaging material that needs to be disposed of. For comparison those large dumpsters you see behind most businesses hold 8 yards of material and cost an average of $75 to have picked up each time. Also for us to be “green” these days the cardboard part should be separated from the rest and put in a recycle dumpster. Now the furniture will need to be assembled. Some items only need to be taken from the box and set down while others require an hour of assembly time. Most companies are not equipped with the proper tools or know how to do these jobs so it takes longer and there is still the chance for damage to the product or an employee.

Lastly, if there is damage inside you will have to call the manufacturer to get a replacement. Most are very cooperative but some will keep you on hold for extended times, ask for serial numbers or order numbers off the cartons all taking up you time or an employee’s time. So “free delivery” has many meaning and many times it is not really free.

So maybe you have decided that you do not need white glove delivery and want to try it on your own to save some money. Just call us and we will be happy to work you up a proposal providing that level of service.

White glove delivery includes us receiving your items, assembly where required, delivery to your home or office, final assembly there, hauling off all refuse and handling any damage claims with the manufacturer as needed. Limited delivery area, rural areas or upstairs deliveries are slightly higher. We will call you prior to placing your order to discuss any possible additional charges or to let you know if you are outside our delivery areas.
